About TeachingCoach.org:

The goals of this site are to:

  • explain common responsibilities of the faculty developer's role
  • suggest practical ways to carry out those responsibilities
  • provide specific resources to support those suggestions.
The goals of being practical and specific present a challenge, in that the role of the faculty developer differs across positions and institutions. The more widely-applicable a suggestion, the less specific it tends to be and therefore less immediately-useful.

One way address this challenge is to develop a wide pool of contributors from all sizes of program and institution. We welcome your input and would love to share your wisdom with the world. If you have something you would like to add, please let us know.

TeachingCoach.org is administered by Michael Sweet, who works for the Division of Instructional Innovation and Assessment at the University of Texas, Austin. Michael has been a faculty developer in university and community college settings since 1995. His primary interests are team-based and collaborative learning--both face-to-face and online. (Michael's vita is here.)
